Wondering What Happens at an Affiliate Marketing Conference?

Affiliate links may be included in this post. Thank you for supporting Lifewhack!

I bet you are. I bet you were sitting around, all dumb and bored, chewing your tobacco, drinking your wine spritzer, waiting for me to post about my experience at the affiliate conference I recently attended.

For those of you that don’t know, one way bloggers make money is to add special codes to links to certain products. These links are called affiliate links, and we get a small commission if you all buy something using these links.

Yes, there are some nefarious twits out there who abuse this, and promote anything and everything they can use affiliate links on. I’d say the average blogger, though, will add affiliate links only to what they already love and are writing about, and can confidently recommend.

I like this model of making money for bloggers, because although I have ads up on my site, I don’t control what is in the ads, or what you guys are seeing. And let’s face it, ads are annoying. Gotta bring home the bacon, yo.

ANYWAY, back to the point of this post, which is that I spent some time learning about affiliate marketing and meeting with some brands I’m an eager beaver to work with. By the way, if you are a blogger or content creator and are looking to get into affiliate stuff, I love and adore Share a Sale. They are the company who put on this conference, and I love their dedication to Join their program and see all of the fun companies they work with.

Here are the brands I met with. There were many there, so I only scheduled meetings with companies I am full-on excited about.

Simon Says Stamp I loves all things crafty, papery, plannery, art journaly, so I was a little excited to chat with the owner of Simon Says Stamp, and see what they were all about. Besides getting a cute little goody bag, I learned that the company was named after their dog (who died recently, and when I found out I almost got a little weepy.) The owner, Heidi Klausing Crowl, started the company when she wanted her own craft supplies, so she would buy full sets of tapes and things, keep a bit for herself, package up the rest in little kits, and sell them on eBay. Clevah.

Cricut machine

Cricut Cricut machines are the sorts of things I have been lusting and drooling over for years, but I could never justify buying one because I didn’t have a completely clear idea of what I would make with one.

The problem here, which is actually a great asset, is that you can do virtually anything crafty with a Cricut. You can make so many things it is mind-blowing. I got to put vinyl letters onto a travel cup that was hand-lettered and uploaded to the Cricut software and then cut out of this outdoor-grade vinyl.

You can cut out leather, balsa wood, fabrics, chipboard, paper, blah blah blah blah. I’m freaking out about how cool these are and I WILL OWN ONE. Do you have one? Tell me Cricut stories.

If you are a blogger and want to sign up for their affiliate program, do so here!

PawPack There is nothing better in this whole world than dogs. See?

I buy ridiculously expensive dog food for Ida and spend hours with her at dog park, and she sleeps curled up at our feet on our damn bed because we are grade-A suckers. So I loved meeting with the newly-engaged owners of Pawpack, a subscription pet stuff service. What sets them apart is that their stuff is all-natural, and the highest quality you can get for pets. Plus, they give back and support shelters, stand behind their product 100%, etc etc. They were legit passionate about their product, and it was inspiring.

Lastly, I met with Stephanie Robbins, who manages the affiliate programs for hippie stuff (her words), like healing oils, yoga and meditation online classes, all natural and vegan beauty supplies. LOVE it all. I’m a newbie to meditation, so I might force all of you to join me in a meditation or yoga challenge.

That’s it. This is a long post. There’s so much cool stuff out there to discover, and I’m constantly amazed by the internet as a tool to find the cool stuff and for people to sell the cool stuff. I’m also constantly amazed by how much time I can stare at a screen, so I’m going to hop off now and try to focus my eyes.

More later, my little chihuahuahuahuas.
